![]() Athens County Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Though the vast majority have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are involved in most phases of construction. By working side-by-side with the family who will live in the house, our volunteers experience for themselves the joy created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership. Habitat volunteers contribute more than muscle. Creativity, strategy, and technical skills are among the many invaluable traits volunteers bring to the organization. With a minimal staff, Athens County Habitat for Humanity depends upon volunteer committees for support with projects like Family Selection, Family Support, Public Relations, Construction Skills Training, and Volunteer Services. We invite volunteers to help us build, assist in the office, serve on committees, and help with special projects that benefit the organization. Time commitments vary; some volunteers dedicate every day of the week to Athens County Habitat for Humanity and others spend just a few hours each month working on projects. As a volunteer for Athens County Habitat for Humanity, you can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you would like. All of these positions are a tremendous help that directly or indirectly result in the construction of simple, decent homes. As always, we appreciate the efforts of all our volunteers. Unfortunately, we have reached a limit of volunteers needed on the build site. We do have other projects for interested volunteers including our many committees, as well as our temporary Cardboard City committee, in charge of planning that fundraiser for September. If you are a fan of public speaking, or just excited about spreading the word about Athens County Habitat for Humanity, serving on our Speaker’s Bureau, giving presentations to local groups within the community may be something you’re interested in. We also occasionally have need of volunteers to run various errands from our office or do special one-time projects. Even now, we are looking for someone willing to come to the office every Wednesday morning, separate our recycling and put it out for pickup. It seems simple but helps the office staff immensely! Always feel free to fill out our online registration form and we would be happy to make sure you and your particular interests are in our system; we just do not have construction work for volunteers at this time. |
